Christopher Villagran, better known by his stage moniker DJ Spin, is a New Orleans-based DJ and music producer best known for his work with Lil Wayne, Mystikal, Fiend, and Chris Thomas King, as well as his weekly appearances on Hot 104.5 FM (KNOU).
Spin started his career in music at just sixteen; two years later, he was tapped by Big Boy Records to DJ for its lineup of New Orleans hip-hop artists, including Mystikal, Fiend, and Partners N Crime. By the 2000s, DJ Spin’s profile led him to work with some of the biggest names in hip-hop, including Juvenile, Cash Money Records, Currency, and Pharrell Williams.
Beginning in 2003, New Orleans’ own Hot 104.5 FM began featuring Spin regularly on their live mix shows – which eventually led to his own biweekly radio show, Spin Cycle. Spin now regularly opens for high-caliber artists; to date, he’s opened for KEM, Busta Rhymes, Nas, Lil Wayne, Method Man, Ludacris, and Snoop Dogg. Spin is also the current resident DJ at Masquerade, one of New Orleans’ premiere nightclubs.
“[Til She Lose Her Voice] might very well be the collaboration we never knew we needed and now that I have heard it, I just can’t get enough. There’s something about the signature Wayne vocals over a chorus of seductive snares and euphoric synths that bring his sound to the next level.” – ThisSongSlaps.com
“Most memorable moment…[DJ Spin] sampled Son House’s death-chant John the Revelator, as Chris Thomas King (O Brother, Where Art Thou?) delivered searing slidework with all the teeth rattling chill and emotional bite an electric blues could hope to muster.” – MOJO
