O.G. Blake Owens
Houston-born, New Orleans-bred O.G. Blake Owens isn’t just a rapper; he’s an innovator blending the best of hip-hop’s old school and new school into a new sound that you can hear in his last two projects: “Balcony Music” and “While You Wait.” By performing only with his live band, Blake delivers an intimate performance no matter how big the venue. Fans of all types enjoy his smooth delivery, lyrics, and his take on real-life topics.
In addition to his performing career, Owens produced a popular hip-hop showcase at New Orleans’ House of Blues called NOMW – Next Up, which ran for three years. Winners of this local talent showcase gained the opportunity to open for nationwide artists at the House of Blues.
Owens is also the co-founder of the social bike club, Get Up ‘N’ Ride, the largest in New Orleans. Get Up ‘N’Ride features hundreds of bikers riding through the city on Tuesday nights to colorful lights and music, and was featured in Blake’s music video for “Ridin’ High.”
“O.G Blake Owens introduces a new age contemporary sound to hip hop music, whilst preserving traditional elements of old-school rap, Owens merges a unique quality into hip hop culture.” – anrfactory.com
“[Blake’s music] hints to his inspirations such as Erykah Badu, Kendrick Lamar and Snoop Dog can be heard whilst still retaining the fresh new sound of O.G. Blake Owens who prefers to perform alongside live music.” – flavourmag.co.uk
